Verizon 5G Home Internet self-setup

What is Verizon 5G Home?

Verizon 5G Home is a revolutionary, ultra-fast, ultra-simple wireless home internet service powered by 5G Ultra Wideband. It offers powerful network performance and speed with none of the hassles of cable, no contractual commitments, and no extra fees, data overages, or equipment charges.

How Verizon 5G Home works?

The 5G antenna sends a 5G signal to your house which is then picked up by the 5G internet gateway that mounts to your window or the wall closest to it. That device will then broadcast ridiculously fast Wi-Fi throughout your home. The device has max download speeds of up to 1Gbps, depending on location, with typical download speeds of 300 Mbps. You may require the purchase of additional Wi-Fi Extenders.

How to do Verizon 5G Home Internet self-setup?

I am describing the steps in below. Read this very carefully and don't miss any guidelines.

Verizon 5G Home Internet self-setup

1. My Verizon app

When you place your order, you should also register for a Verizon account. This will make it easier for you to get through the setup and manage all of your different devices and account. So when you will download the My Verizon app, you need to log in. Whether you're a new customer or you just don't have the app, you can just scan the QR code which you will find in the quick start guide and you'll get right to it. From right within the Verizon app, the self-setup guide will walk you through everything plus they've got an AR tool. It turns your phone into like a futuristic 5G antenna finder.

2. Finding Signal with AR

After logging in to this app, if you hold your phone up and walk around your house and the app arrows will be pointing you toward the 5G antenna somewhere in your neighborhood. It's like GPS for 5G. If you have a spot but you don't have a clear view of the antenna, you need to go to keep walking into the app until you find the best spot.

The spot will help you to find the best place to mount your 5G internet gateway. The only thing to look out for is when you're finding the right spot. It needs to be inside your home close to an outlet and you don't want it near water or moisture like a bathroom or a kitchen sink.

If you have more than one floor an upstairs window or wall is great too.

3. Unboxing

The 5G internet gateway receives the signal from the antenna that you will find out by using the app. You've got a power cable and the accessories box, a quick start guide, and the mounting bracket with the Gecko tape plate which will hold the device on the window.

4. Testing for signal

Try to find the best spot to set it up-

Power up with the Verizon gateway where you can find the 5G antenna spot. This device will pair with your phone through the app. The blinking white light means the device is starting up, blue light means the device is ready to be paired. Once it's paired it'll show the signal strength as red, yellow, or green.

When you will find a strong signal, we will get the green light. You need to give the device two seconds in each spot.

5. Mounting The Bracket

Follow these steps for window-

  • Clean the window
  • Let it dry
  • Don’t touch the exposed Gecko tape before mounting
  • Stick the mounting plate on the window or wall
  • Push against the mounting plate for a full 30 seconds
  • Attach the mounting bracket

When you will get the green light to lock it in with the little dial underneath.

6. Speed Test

Finally you should test your device speed by Verizon app. Download speed may vary depending upon network and coverage conditions and content optimization for 5G ultra wideband. If everything is ok, your home setup is ready.
